NOTES:  This case style got a lot of play in the late 1940s.  Two ads datad 1946 show it as the Ambassador, but with markers on the dial in place of some numbers.  Also in 1946, it is seen as the Tuxedo--but only in solid 14K gold with matching 14K bracelet--and the Craftsman--but only in solid 14K gold with a leather band.  Then, in 1948, it appears as a variation of the His Excellency line.  This example is not solid gold, so cannot be either the Tuxedo or the Craftsman.  It has all numbers on the dial instead of a mix of numbers and markers, so it is not a good match for the 1946 Ambassador.  That leaves the later His Excellency, which, based on the ads available, appears to be the best match.  The 1948 His Excellency ad shown below does state that it was available in white gold, like the subject watch.
