Other Details

NOTES:  The previous version of this basic style of case was called the Douglas, but in 1949 was advertised as the Ambassador.  There is also an undated post card that shows this style of case as the Brigadier.  However, the Douglas, Ambassador, and Brigadier all have a 21 jewel movement and no case engraving, as shown in the Ambassador ad below.  This style of case has also been seen with 17 jewels and engraving along the sides of the bezel (like mine) as well as on the lug extensions.  G-S Crystal Catalog No. 52 names many watches that take this same crystal, namely:

  • Aeronaut
  • Auto Watch C
  • Brigadier B
  • Dorrance
  • Douglas D
  • Engineer A
  • Harrington
  • Photo-Watch

We know what the Harrington and Photo-Watch look like, but the others are anyone's guess.
