NOTES: It was once believed that Bulova only purchased cases from Star Watch Case Co. for military issued models. However, growing evidence is showing that Bulova's affiliation with Star was more extensive. Quite a few of these Bulova 23 models, all very similar in styling, have been seen with the Bulova signature on the back and the Star signature inside. Recently, an entirely different 1960 model was acquired by a fellow collector, and it has the same signature configuration. Also, on many stainless steel models from the 1950s and 1960s, the words "Water Tite" on the back of the case are accompanied by a star symbol, which may be indicative of some level of involvement in the case's manufacture or technology on the part of Star Watch Case Co.
