NOTES:  This is one of a growing number of watches in my collection that has a serial number beginning with a letter rather than a number.  I now have examples of this phenomenon dating from 1940 to 1949.  This serial number configuration is quite common starting in 1955, but is not the norm for the 1940s.  The significance or meaning of the various leading letters is not yet known.  It is worth noting that I only see this serial number format in ladies' models prior to 1955; from that date forward, it occurs in both men's and ladies' models.  There is no date code on the case itself, and there is an inside signature, which means the case fits the profile of an earlier, rather than later, time frame.   I feel comfortable using the movement date code as the best way to date this watch.
